Digital Video Recorders
Digital Video Recorders are the most important part of any video surveillance system or home CCTV system. If you buy a good quality DVR recorder then you will find the surveillance equipment used will perform much more satisfactorily which could be the difference between catching a thief and getting a conviction. If home security is the main driving force then we suggest mounting the cameras around the corner of the property and placing the DVR recorder in the loft. This means the DVR recorder is secure even if the property is broken into. Normally 4 channel digital video recorders are ample for most small shops and home video surveillance, although 8 channel and 16 channel CCTV DVRs can be suitable for the larger properties. A mini DVR or standalone DVR can be good for those situations where stealth and secrecy are important. We sell mini DVR with wireless as well if you want to place your mini DVR in a hidden place or don't want to drill holes to accommodate for cables.
The main thing to look out for with a CCTV DVR recorder is the number of frames per second (FPS), ideally you would want 25 per camera (which is the same rate as standard TV). Therefore a 4 Channel Digital Video Recorder will require 100FPS, 8 channel DVR CCTV 200FPS and so on. You might also want to consider the way in which the Digital Video Recorder stores the footage. Either MPEG, MPEG-4 or the latest H.264 technology. H.264 will commonly record at a high resolution and use very little space on Digital Video Recorders. Using this technology a 500GB H.264 CCTV DVR security system will record for twice as long as standard video surveillance systems, great if you have bar, nightclub or restaurant where 30 days of recording is required by the police.
