The tiny camera can be easily fixed to the interior of any bird box, birdhouse or nesting box, where it transmits wireless video and audio back to the receiver in your house. This then plugs straight into your TV, letting you watch live images of the brooding birds and chicks in your garden, all from the comfort of your sofa. Because the camera uses wireless transmission, all you have to do is connect it to the included power supply- no need to run trailing cables to your TV! Despite the camera’s tried-and-tested design being as popular as ever, we’ve gone all out this Christmas to add a couple of improvements to make sure you get the most for your money…
To provide the best possible image from the camera, we have just updated each camera’s imaging chip to a higher grade model recording video at 700TV Lines. TV Lines are the standard measure of resolution CCTV equipment, and a higher number equates to more detail in the resulting video image. For comparison, the previous model of bird box camera recorded footage at 380TV Lines, so this represents a serious increase in camera quality! For more information see our preview post here!
One of the most common questions we got asked about the camera was how to power it- after all, not many people have mains power supplies handy in their garden. Whilst we do stock Lithium rechargeable batteries for temporary usage, the most popular solution was to use a DC power extension cable to run out from the nearest building to the camera’s location. Because we wanted the camera kit to be as complete as possible, ready to get up and running straight away, we have now included a 5m extended power supply right in the box, giving you much more reach to go back to a plug socket without needing an additional cable!
