We have lots of cameras which have a low LUX rating which means they can record even at very low light. This is a great advance in CCTV camera technology as it provides more opportunities to catch the footage you need. As a high percentage of crimes happen at night, particularly burglaries, being able to record in extremely dark conditions is a necessity.
LUX = Lumens Per Square Metre.
To provide a better idea of the light conditions of different LUX ratings here is a rough guide to help using natural lighting examples:
- Daylight = 10,000 LUX
- Cloudy = 100 LUX
- Twilight = 10 LUX
- Dusk = 1 LUX
- Full Moon = 0.1 LUX
- Quarter Moon = 0.01 LUX
- Complete Dark = 0 LUX
